Losing weight is no easy feat. It takes consistency and lots of discipline and sweat – that’s what they say, right?
I have some good news for you, then.
First, it can be done even without starving and spending hours in the gym.
I have done it before and I see great results from my readers basically every week. On average, you are looking to lose anywhere from 10 to 28 pounds in just 28 days!
You’ve probably seen the fitness gimmicks that are circulating on social media and maybe you’ve even tried them – only to fail or stop midway.
That’s okay, it is a part of the struggle and I get it because I’ve been there too.
There are, however, a few tips that helped me tremendously in my journey. I am sure they’ll work for you just as well. Now let me share them with you and help you achieve your dream figure.
Tip #1: Carb Detox
When I mention “detox”, I’m not telling you to stop eating everything but smoothies and tea. I don’t recommend those anyway.
I am referring to limiting the number of carbs. You need to eat more of lean protein instead. That’s basically it! And it shouldn’t be a surprise you need to avoid sugar as well.
Tip #2: Make weight-loss hormones work for you
By doing the carb detox, you are giving your body a signal to reset important hormones that are responsible for the weight-gain (and weight loss as well)
They include: insulin, leptin, and ghrelin. You can also count your stress hormone – cortisol.
These four play a huge role in your metabolism.
TRUST ME – YOU WANT THESE HORMONES WORKING FOR YOU AND NOT AGAINST YOU!
Insulin helps regulate your blood sugar. It allows your cells to absorb glucose (sugar) for energy. Your goal is to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood glucose fasting levels.
Leptin – also called the satiety hormone, tells your body that you are full. People who are obese are usually highly leptin resistant, basically resulting in a lack of hunger control and more weight gain.
Ghrelin is known as the “hunger hormone”. It sends signals to your brain so you know when to eat. When you go on a diet, your ghrelin levels will increase and that will increase your hunger.
Now you see why no diet can take you to the ultimate goal of losing weight and keeping it off if it does not take into account the effect of these hormones.
Unfortunately, almost every diet that circulates on the internet these days leads to hormone imbalance 🙁
Tip #3: Avoid alcohol
If your goal is to lose as much as 30 pounds in 30 days, you need to stop drinking alcohol now.
There are two good reasons for this.
#1. Alcohol contains nothing but empty calories.
There is simply ZERO nutritional value in alcohol.
#2. It has way too many calories – around 7 calories per gram. That is double amount when compared to proteins.
Just don’t drink alcohol for few weeks, ok? 🙂
Tip #4: Drink More Water
We generally do not drink enough water each day. But when it comes to weight loss, water is your best friend.
I recommend you to drink eight eight-ounce glasses of water every day for weight loss and to maintain your ideal weight. It is also called the 8×8 rule.
Water provides fat-burning potential by an increase of your resting energy expenditure (the number of calories you burn at rest). Studies showed that within 10 minutes of drinking a glass of water, the resting energy expenditure increases by 24-30%.
Water also curbs your appetite. Drinking water before each meal helps you to lose 44% more weight!
By regularly drinking enough water, your body becomes better at expelling water from your system. This helps to eliminate bloating and to reduce water retention in your body.
Tip #5: Get Proper Rest
For an effective weight loss, you need to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night. While this doesn’t apply for everyone, it should be a good amount of rest you get if you want to become lean and energised.
Lack of sleep halts the production of key weight loss hormones I talked about before (insulin, leptin, cortisol and ghrelin.
Over-production of cortisol due to lack of sleep makes you want to snack on sugary and refined foods.
Many studies have confirmed that people who do not get enough rest have an increase in their appetite.
